Wink Eyelash Extensions Review

"I wouldn't recommend Wink Eyelash Bar to a friend... or my worst enemy for that matter."

Here's why:
I've been thinking about getting individual eyelash extensions for a while now. A couple days ago I finally took the plunge and got individual Mink eyelashes applied. I did some research and settled on WINK Eyelash Bar in Baton Rouge, LA.

I went in to set up an appointment. I had to pay a $20 non-refundable down-payment to secure my appointment. On the day of my appointment, I arrived 15 minutes early, (which never happens, by the way!) I was greeted by an employee and she told me to have a seat. The decor of the salon was absolutely adorable. The walls were pink and there were zebra print accents throughout.

About 15 minutes later, the woman who would be applying my lashes escorted me back to begin the procedure. At this point I'm just overcome with excitement. I was picturing myself batting my long, thick eyelashes and just looking fabulous!

Well my delusions of grandeur came to a screeching halt when the eyelash technician informed me that I had "really curly" lashes and that it would leave less surface area for the false lashes to adhere to, thus they may not last as long and require more maintenance.

She then proceeds to ask me if I still wanted to get my lashes done. I said, heck yeah I do! I already paid my down-payment. Make it work, honey! At this point I was annoyed with the lash tech because that's a cop out. She should have learned how to deal with clients with curly lashes as well as straight. Especially since you're charging a grand total of $127 for this service. You need to be an expert.

Moving on. So she began applying the lashes and during the procedure I had to use the restroom. (This is a two hour procedure for God's sake!) It seemed like she had an attitude about me having to use the bathroom. But hey that's life. When she removed the dressing from my eyes, I realized that she had glued my eyes shut. It was extremely painful as she yanked them apart.

Finally after about an hour and a half my lashes were finally done. I was a little underwhelmed. The craftsmanship was rather shoddy, as there were lashes going every which way. I just felt like the lash tech made a few rookie mistakes and for the $127 I paid, rookie mistakes are unacceptable.

So here's the verdict. I am NOT impressed. I wouldn't recommend Wink Eyelash Bar to a friend... or my worst enemy for that matter. The level of skill that went into this is comparable to an Asian nail shop. Save your money and skip Wink Eyelash Bar.

Here's a side view of the lashes:

Towards the inner corners of my eyelids there is some scarring from where the lash technician yanked the tape off. It took the top layer of my skin with it.

  2. I had my 1st set done at Wink in Baton Rouge also. But only because I paid less than $40 with a Groupon. I definitely got my money's worth because the lashes I got were long but very few and spred out. I was too embarrassed by how they looked to walk around the mall. But I heard about Leah at Lola's Beauty Lounge and she is AMAZING! I don't think I can ever go back to not having these eyelashes.
